Payton Alexander Rhodes, 23, was arrested and charged for his role in an alleged assault that was reported at approximately 3:30 a.m. on July 1 on Danville Road, the agency announced on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

The Woodbridge resident allegedly got into a verbal argument with a Hispanic woman in the driveway of the man's house, and when the homeowner attempted to break up the fight, Rhodes struck him in the head with a baseball bat and the unknown woman attacked with her hands, police say.

Once the fight was broken up, Rhodes and the woman left the area with the bat, which belonged to the homeowner, only to be tracked down weeks later.

Rhodes was arrested on Friday, Aug. 25 and charged with malicious wounding and petit larceny. His next court date is pending and bond information was unavailable on Tuesday.

The second woman involved in the assault remains at large and was described as being 5-foot with straight long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a grey tank top and blue jeans.
